Earth Week 1972

50 years ago today, the Roslyn Environmental Association held an awareness event here at the Bryant Library promoting what we now refer to as sustainable or green living. The event included clean-up efforts of Roslyn Park, now called Gerry Park, after local environmentalists Roger & Peggy Gerry.


The flyer below details the event schedule:


Several days earlier, The Roslyn News published an article notifying residents of the event and inviting them to volunteer. The article also notes the sale of recycled stationery and praying mantis. Together, these items represented both flora and fauna, two realms of nature that environmentalists seek to protect.
